The 2010 Ford's Colony Club Championship was a resounding success for all involved.
The weekend started off with a bang on Friday with an incredible 65 carded by defending club champion, Clay Pokorny on the Blackheath Golf Course. On the Ladies' side, defending champion Margaret McMillen, opened her title defense with a round of 84 putting her in a tie for the lead with 5-time champion, Kathy Sheets.
The flight competitions on each side were equally as close with several of the club's top players opening with solid rounds.
The big story for Round 2 came from Flight 8 where Ted Zlydaszek carded a personal best round of 83 for a net 61 to take a commanding lead for his flight.
Back in the first flight, Clay Pokorny came in strong with a solid round of even par 72 to go into the last day at 6 under par and holding a commanding 14 shot lead over his nearest pursuer.
Other solid scores from Day 2 included a 76 by Pete Moriarty, 77 from Bob Sumlin and a 96 from Mary Campbell.
On Day 3, the ladies played some great golf. With a steady final round, former Club Champion Kathy Sheets was able to re-gain her title and win a record 6th Club Champion.
Not to be out done, however, was last years' Ladies' Club Champion, Margaret McMillen, who took the Senior Ladies' Club Championship Crown this year. In the Super Senior Division, Noel Fort came out on top with a very consistent 3-day total of 293.
On the Men's side of the draw things were equally as exciting. Continuing his dominance in 2010, Rick Jackson was crowned the Super Senior Club Champion and Sam Ralabate closed with a final round 76 to take the Senior Club Champion Title.
Finally, defending Club Champion, Clay Pokorny, successfully defended his title in 2010 for his record 6th Club Champion crown.
The tournament was a great success and was a great time for everyone who participated. We had good food, good drinks and most of all, good weather on our side! Thanks to everyone who participated and we hope to see more of you next year!
